Growing up with parents in the film and music industry allowed me to engage with a variety of projects and products, fostering a mindset that encouraged me to dream ambitiously and unleash my imagination in every possible way. I always knew that screenwriting, designing, and developing characters, scripts, music, films, etc. was the career path I wanted to pursue, stemming from a childhood where I frequently withdrew into my imagination, excessively crafting and utilizing action figures to transform my room into a stage where I could reenact scenes and invent new scenarios tailored to the characters I envisioned.
I graduated from college in just 3 years, starting community college the summer after I graduated from high school at 17, then ending my education at UTSA with a bachelor’s degree in English in 2022. With the knowledge I gained from the literature in film courses, the “real” history of the world regarding race, colonization, religion, or politics, I felt defeated but understood my disposition, which in turn compelled me to turn everything I learned through education, niche topics, and the overall social climate into something productive. With the addition of the isolation from the pandemic and being introverted, in April 2020, I started developing a project that encapsulates my diverse interests and passions under the umbrella, The Arthur Michals Show, with an underlying purpose to explore the psychology of how people operate to help process the existentialism in a world full of action figures and sets made out of cardboard
I aim to express myself authentically while harboring connections with others through various mediums that make me feel acknowledged and understood. By integrating action figures, art, animation, music, fashion, architecture, and design, my desires are driven to deepen my understanding of the expansive possibilities within the creative industry and play a role in something greater than myself. Although I may not have the largest following, I have a universe on standby as I continue to strive in my uniqueness by creating content that showcases my vision and passion for vulnerable storytelling.
